We've been married for 7 months now, so I'd say it's about time to update this thing! I'll fill you in on as much as I can remember up until now...so here it goes.
On April 10th, 2009 Jonathan and I were married in the Winter Quarters Nebraska temple and were sealed together for time and all eternity. It was a gorgeous day! Earlier that week it started to snow. Ugh! It's April...hello! Birds are supposed to chirping, you're supposed to be able to see green grass and the beginnings of buds on trees and little flowers popping out of the ground. And it was cold. But as the day approached, everything started falling into place and before you knew it, you could see flowers coming up, the grass was green and it was starting to warm up. Thank heavens! Before we knew it, it was the night before the big day and our families gathered together for the rehearsal dinner. Jon's dad gave a lovely toast and then everybody dug in. It was delicious and so much fun! We were inseperable as we talked and laughed the night away. Britnee, my little sister didn't show up until the very end. Her flight didn't get in til late. Then, when they landed, they couldn't get the door of the plane open for like 45 min!
The next morning I woke up super early to start getting everything ready. I had been worried about how I wanted my hair and if it would stay pretty for the whole day. I went to my appt and it turned out magnificent! I loved it! Some of it was pulled up and some of it was down. It was a very romantic, dreamy hairdo. Love it! Then I met my maid of honor and my bridesmaid at Legacy nails. I didn't want like the acryllic nails, so I went to walmart, bought some fake ones that look really good, brought them with me, and had them put on those nails instead. We all got manicures and pedicures. It felt so good! After, we had to rush home so I could do my makeup perfectly and grab a few last minute things. I drove downtown to the hotel that Jon and his family were staying at, picked him up and then we rushed to the temple. My heart was beating a million miles a minute and I kept thinking "Oh my heck! This is it!!!!" I had no idea what to expect. It was perfect. We were married and sealed and it was sooo special!
I remember afterwards I was thinking about it and it didn't really feel any different from when we were dating. But now we really were husband and wife. It was crazy, cool and weird all at the same time. I couldn't believe that this was our day. That I had actually gotten married! When I was little I always thought that as soon as I was married that I would feel like a different person. That was definately not the case. I felt like the same old me. But, I suppose one part of that is true. He always makes me want to be a better person.
After, I got changed into my wedding dress, made sure I was perfect and came out of the room to be with my husband. We went outside. Our family was all around us yelling their congratulations. There was a loud voice that randomly started bossing us around! Kiss, Hug, ok now move over here. I finally laid eyes on the guy I had never met. He had a camera. It was our photographer! Ohh...ok. Well, in that case, he can boss us around all he wants!
Family pictures seemed to take forever! And the bouquet was freakin heavy! I just wanted a minute where Jon and I could be alone. We were so calm when everything around us seemed to be in a state of calamity. After the hustle and bustle of our different families standing this way and that way and taking ppl out of the pictures and adding more into them, it was our turn for some one on one time with our photographer, Steve. Jon helped me load my dress into the tahoe and we followed him to a park by UNO (I'm drawing a blank on the park's name). He took the most amazing pictures ever! We get them soon and I'm totally excited to adorn our apartment with them!
Then, it was time to go to our reception. It was held at the Georgetown Clubhouse on like 144th and Center st. It was gorgeous! And such a blast! Outside of the ballroom that we were in was a sign in table for the guests. Inside, there was a dance floor, the DJ's "office", round tables, a brilliant buffet (the food was absolutely amazing! Just wish we were able to eat more of it!) and a special place just for the lovely cake.
Before the reception started, the photographer snagged us for some bridal party pics. Then we headed inside to begin greeting guests. The DJ introduced us and we came in. There was a shower of joyous smiles, claps and whisteling. We were guided over to the cake table. It was perfect! Everything I had wanted in a cake was right there! We had no clue what to do, so we grabbed the closest knife (which was the wedding cake cutter at my parents wedding) and cut into the chocolate cake with raspberry filling. We were really nice about feeding it to each other. I didn't want it smooshed in my face after my makeup was cute and the night wasn't even close to being over. Get real! That would be so uncool. Some people poured sparkling cider in a couple wine glasses. We did the whole crossing arm thingy and drank a little bubbly :)
Then we went to the head table and sat down. My grandpa (aka papa) said a blessing on the food, we got in line for the buffet and ate it. It was so good! The only problem was I didn't get a lot of time to eat anything. People kept coming over and talking and asking to see my dress and stuff.
Next, was a beautiful toast given by Jon's brother Steve. We watched our "Love Story" that the videographers put together a couple days previously and a photo montage of each of us growing up and then the two of us together. Then it was time to get our groove on!
A couple in my parents ward (the Gold's) taught my parents and Jon and I which dances to dance and how to do it a couple days before. So when the time finally came, we were so ready! We glided onto the floor and blew everyone away. It was perfect! My dad cut it and we did a different dance to a different song. Jon went and found his mom and danced on the floor with us. It was magical. It was everyone's turn to join in after that and it was a blast!
Taking off the garter time! Jon did such a good job! It was totally hott and way sexy! It was to a Michael Buble song. He took it off and a bunch of single guys got in a group. Jon flinged it across the dance floor and his brother Ryan caught it! Yay!
The bouquet toss was after that. All my single ladies lined up. I spun around and tossed it through the air. A lady that works for my dad and who I used to work with caught it (Pam). She was so excited!
Then it was time to say goodbye! Everyone lined up outside with a tube of bubbles. We came out and were greeted with a shower of bubbles! We walked up to our limo, slid in, and away we went. Happily ever after!
But that was only the fake leave...I didn't think I would see my parents again before our honeymoon so I had to give my dress to my mom so she could preserve it. We came back to Georgetown, ran inside, got dressed in dress up clothes, talk to the videographers one last time and get our luggage. We used the tahoe earlier and thats where are bags where. We couldn't find the keys anywhere! I dumped out my purse, looked around the tahoe...nothing. Finally Jon came out of the dressing room and then I remembered that I didn't drive! Jon had! So he had the keys! Whew! That was a relief! We got our bags and headed to the Embassy Suites for our real happily ever after!
We got to the hotel and both of us were exhausted! We checked in, got to the honeymoon suite and opened the door. My bridesmaids were so cute! They decorated our hotel room with flower petals and shiny things and candles and there was a basket on the coffee table filled with such fun things! There was chocolate and strawberries and cheese and crackers and some other stuff ;)
The next morning came and it was perfect. We went downstairs to the complimentary breakfast they had. It was HUGE! and so delicious! When we were done we realized that we had a lot of time to kill before we left for our flight so I called my mom so we could go home and open presents! They came, picked us up, made lunch for both our families and it was great! It was so laid back and relaxed. Then, they took us to the airport and we flew to Oregon.
